James Anthony Scholarship
The James F. Anthony Scholarship was created in 1995 in memory of a devoted friend to Big I New Jersey. This $1000 scholarship is bestowed annually to a deserving high school senior seeking to further his or her education at the collegiate or professional/trade school level, who has demonstrated excellence in scholastic, extra curricular, and community activities.
All applicants of the James F. Anthony Scholarship must meet the following criteria for their application to be considered.
The application period is February 16, 2026 through April 13, 2026. The scholarship recipient will be notified by May 1, 2026.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must be a dependent of an employee who is currently working for an active Big I New Jersey member agency.
- Applicants must be a high school junior or senior who is seeking to further their education as the university, college, or technical school level.
- Applicants must submit a 500-600 word essay along with their completed application beginning with “If I receive this scholarship I feel it will....”
- Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher revious James F. Anthony Scholarship winners are not eligible.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION STANDARDS
- Grade point average.
- SAT, ACT or other college entrance exam scores.
- Content, format, grammer, spelling, punctuation, and neatness.
Selection will be made based on the eligibility requirements, essay, and following standards as provided in the application. Financial need is not a criteria for this scholarship.
APPLICATION PROCESS
All applications should be returned to the Scholarship Administrator no later than April 13, 2026. Applications received after April 13, 2026 will be ineligible.
